Adam Wasserman's Fiction Page

Stories are the stuff of my life. Since I was a little kid I've been inventing them, and as an adult I'm no different. Most days I'm working in an office, which is the most unimaginative place human beings have ever created for themselves! In my “real life” - where I can be and do what I want – I play a lot of AD&D second edition and I write.

I don't keep a blog because I don't have much to say about the real world that isn't better suited to a story. A story to me is like a painting or a sculpture, and there's more in it than simply a plot line. Anyway, the real world isn't nearly as interesting as the ones we create for ourselves!

Email me! I'd be happy to hear from you.

Below you'll find some of my work. I hope you like it. You can also download most of this stuff in PDF format here.

The Novels

Well, I guess it's only natural to have more stories than novels.

Gyges the Terrible

What kind of person would you be if you did not fear punishment? It is the future. The world is a boring, mundane, tightly controlled place. Six major empires exist, one of which is the United States and its Northern European and Central American provinces, now ruled as a “freemocracy”. Wars are fought over the resources mined on the moon. The Justices of the Supreme Court are powerful adepts at the black arts, and the President, Samuel Judas Epstein, opposes them. It is into this bitter feud that Marcellus Gyges and his friends inadvertently step when he finds a magical ring with the power of command. He and his friends go to Washington with the intention of taking over. But things turn out far differently than any of them had expected...

The Grey Life

It's mostly philosophical and focuses mainly on the characters, so if you're looking for a story with a strong plot this one's probably not what you're looking for. However, if you're looking for a description of the confusion that arises from growing up in our most modern (American) society, an exploration of human nature, love, sexuality, racial tension, cruelty, and ethics, maybe this will be a good read.
